All You Need is Love ... and $400 Million Dollars
I just read that  a $400 million dollar deal has finally been struck between the Beatles and Apple, paving the way for the popular band to come to iTunes.  Looking at some of the forum posts a lot of people are asking, what's the big deal?  The Beatles have been available on CD for years.  Well, this is the big deal.  The Beatles' catalog has not been remastered since the 1980s and a lot has changed in 25 years.  In 1999 the film and soundtrack for Yellow Submarine was released with the soundtrack being remixed and remastered.  And that was nearly ten years ago.  So it stands to reason that the quality of the recordings should be vastly superior to what is available now.

Anyway, I'm still sick w/ the stomach flu, but hey, this was important.  ;)

Heh. Well what do you want. They made a beautiful song that was poignant at the time and people have been banking on it for years.

Sorry about your flu. Try some Apple Chicken Soup.

What I'm hoping for is that EMI will make available both stereo AND mono mixes on iTunes.

on another bealtes related note: Norman Smith passed away last week.

Wow, considering the non-stop lawsuits that have gone back and forth between them about Apple records and the logo, this IS kinda a big deal. cool. except I don't use itunes.

The beauty of this is, as I hear it, this will be a non exclusive contract. All digital downloading markets should have access to the catalog at some point. The crucial question as I see it will they be rereleased on CD? There's been no word on that.
